The AWS Asia Pacific (New Zealand) Region (ap-southeast-6) opened in Auckland on 2 September 2025 with three Availability Zones, powered by 100% renewable energy. New Zealand startups can now run workloads and store data in-country with low latency, rather than relying only on the Australian Regions across the Tasman.
The new Auckland Region lets you keep customer data onshore to support obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.
