AWS Activate is a global program, and Japanese startups are fully eligible. Through ROSTAN Technologies — an AWS Activate Provider — qualifying Japanese startups can access the Portfolio tier of AWS Activate, worth up to $200,000 in credits, rather than the smaller self-apply Founders tier. We prepare and submit the application, help you set up your AWS account, and review your initial architecture so the credits go further.
Support is delivered remotely by our AWS team in India, working to Japan Standard Time business hours — a small time-zone gap that keeps handoffs fast. You get hands-on help without local consulting rates, while your workloads run in an AWS Japan Region.
Japanese startups can choose between two in-country AWS Regions: the mature AWS Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region (ap-northeast-1) with three Availability Zones, and the AWS Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region (ap-northeast-3), also three Availability Zones, useful for disaster-recovery and multi-region resilience within Japan.
Keep customer data in the Tokyo or Osaka Region to support obligations under Japan's Act on Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
Tokyo and Osaka give you the option to architect for in-country disaster recovery without leaving Japan.
