AWS Activate is a global program, and Canadian startups are fully eligible. Through ROSTAN Technologies — an AWS Activate Provider — qualifying Canadian startups can access the Portfolio tier of AWS Activate, worth up to $200,000 in credits, rather than the smaller self-apply Founders tier. We prepare and submit the application, help you set up your AWS account, and review your initial architecture so the credits go further.
Support is delivered remotely by our AWS team in India, working to Canadian business hours. You get hands-on help without local consulting rates, while your workloads and data stay in a Canadian AWS Region.
Canadian startups can choose between two in-country AWS Regions: AWS Canada (Central) (ca-central-1) in Montreal, with three Availability Zones, and the newer AWS Canada West (Calgary) (ca-west-1), which opened in 2023. Both keep data and workloads on Canadian soil.
Keep customer data in the Montreal or Calgary Region to support obligations under Canada's PIPEDA and provincial privacy laws.
Two in-country Regions let you optimize latency for eastern or western Canadian users.
