AWS Activate is a global program, and Kenyan startups are fully eligible. Through ROSTAN Technologies — an AWS Activate Provider — qualifying Kenyan startups can access the Portfolio tier of AWS Activate, worth up to $200,000 in credits, rather than the smaller self-apply Founders tier. We prepare and submit the application, help you set up your AWS account, and review your initial architecture so the credits go further.
Support is delivered remotely by our AWS team in India, working to East Africa Time business hours — a small time-zone gap that keeps handoffs fast. AWS does not yet operate a Region inside Kenya, so we help you choose the best nearby Region for your workload.
AWS does not currently operate a Region physically located in Kenya. Kenyan startups typically run workloads from the AWS Africa (Cape Town) Region (af-south-1) for the lowest latency available on the African continent — we help you evaluate this against your actual user base.
Africa (Cape Town) (af-south-1) is the closest AWS Region and the one most Kenyan startups deploy to today.
